"Of course, I knew that snacking throughout the day doesn’t really help to reach my fitness and weight goals" she says, looking at me with her large brown eyes on the screen. "But not snacking in between meals makes such a huge difference for me, I would never have experienced that without you." "This," she says, "really works for me and it also gives me so much peace!" "This is what I call a Game Changer!”
Princess on the Pea
We're in a follow-up session. My coaching client has casually tied up her long hair and her draped pink blanket matches the pink color of her headband. She worked late yesterday, and she's taking this call sitting on her bed. Through my screen, she resembles the princess on the pea from the fairytale. We discuss how she's doing in a relaxed manner. Topics like digestion, blood sugar levels, and hormone balance are discussed because, well, even a princess can suffer from a bloated stomach, mood swings, or early menopausal symptoms.
"All You Can Eat"
Proudly, she tells me that she's finally managing not to snack anymore. "I can handle those 20 minutes of feeling a bit hungry," she says cheerfully. "That's also what I literally tell myself." We've agreed to opt for three full meals without snacking in between. "Or, if it really, really doesn't work, I just choose to eat a little earlier." "I still make it a complete eating moment and really sit down for it." She confesses. "Sometimes, I cheat a little and have a snack just before my mealtime." We giggle together. "It's almost becoming an 'all you can eat' moment then!"
But, How?
Like all open doors, this one - not snacking - seems obvious and superficial. While it may be an open door, actually walking through it is often a different story. You need to find the ones that work for you. By consciously and positively dealing with it, you steer your thoughts and actions in the right direction. With results.
